Perot Field/Fort Worth Alliance Airport (IATA: AFW, ICAO: KAFW) serves Fort Worth, US.
Perot Field/Fort Worth Alliance Airport (KAFW (AFW)), located in Fort Worth, Texas, is a publicly owned, public-use industrial airport. It is primarily focused on air cargo, corporate, general, government, and military aviation operations, and does not offer scheduled commercial passenger service.
Opened on December 14, 1989, it holds the distinction of being the world's first airport specifically designed and built for industrial aviation, a result of a unique public-private partnership involving developer Hillwood, the City of Fort Worth, and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). In December 2022, the airport was renamed Perot Field Fort Worth Alliance Airport in honor of H. Ross Perot Sr., whose vision was instrumental in its creation. Notable features include two parallel 11,000-foot runways and a 24/7 FAA air traffic control tower. It serves as a significant logistics hub, acting as a southern regional hub for FedEx Express and a focus city for Amazon Air. The airport also hosts the annual Fort Worth Alliance Air Show. A major runway and taxiway extension project was completed in 2018, enabling long-haul cargo flights to reach Europe unrefueled.
Currently, Perot Field Fort Worth Alliance Airport continues to operate as a Class IV airport and a vital industrial aviation center. It features a full-service Fixed-Base Operator (FBO) and on-site U.S. Customs services. For the year ending March 31, 2023, the airport recorded 109,652 aircraft operations.
