SkyWest Airlines, a wholly-owned subsidiary of SkyWest, Inc., was founded in 1972. It operates as a regional airline, primarily through partnerships with major carriers such as United Airlines (United Express), Delta Air Lines (Delta Connection), American Airlines (American Eagle), and Alaska Airlines. Headquartered in St. George, Utah, SkyWest Airlines connects passengers to 251 destinations across North America, including 45 U.S. states, Washington D.C., 5 Canadian Provinces, and 11 Mexican cities. Its operations are centered around major airline partners' hubs, including Chicago O'Hare, Denver, Detroit, Houston, Los Angeles, Minneapolis/St. Paul, Phoenix, Portland, Salt Lake City, San Francisco, and Seattle.
As of December 31, 2024, SkyWest Airlines operates a fleet of nearly 500 aircraft, carrying over 42 million passengers in 2024. The fleet consists of Embraer E175 aircraft and Bombardier CRJ200, CRJ700, and CRJ900 aircraft. While SkyWest Airlines does not have direct alliance memberships, its extensive code-share agreements with major airlines effectively integrate its services into the Star Alliance (United), SkyTeam (Delta), and Oneworld (American) networks, as well as with Alaska Airlines.
SkyWest Airlines focuses on providing scheduled passenger service under these code-share agreements, offering regional flying to its partners under long-term, fixed-fee "capacity purchase agreements". The aircraft are configured with amenities similar to larger commercial jets, including flight attendant service, stand-up cabins, overhead and under-seat storage, and lavatories. Some CRJ aircraft also feature first-class seating. SkyWest, Inc. also includes SkyWest Charter (SWC), which offers on-demand charter service using 30-seat CRJ200 aircraft.
