Official airport taxis (StreetCars) are available 24/7 outside all three terminals. You can book at the dedicated desks in the arrivals halls or pre-book online. Private hire vehicles can also be pre-booked and meet you at designated pick-up zones.
The Car Rental Village houses major companies like Avis, Hertz, Europcar, and Sixt. It is located a short distance from the terminals and is served by a free, 24/7 shuttle bus that departs from the arrivals area of each terminal.
The airport's integrated transport hub, 'The Station,' is connected to all terminals via a covered Skylink walkway. It offers:
- Trains: Frequent services to Manchester Piccadilly (city centre) and other major UK cities.
- Metrolink Trams: A direct tram service connecting to the city centre and the wider Greater Manchester network.
- Buses & Coaches: Local bus routes and national coach services (e.g., National Express) to destinations across the UK.
Be aware of what is now considered 'liquid' and therefore subject to separate screening procedures and personal allowance when passing through security. This used to be my home airport, so I've flown to and from MAN on many occasions. This time however, clearing security at T1, a recorded message repeated saying that inhalers and deodorant are liquids. What I didn't realise is that even solid stick deodorant and powder inhalers are, apparently, "liquids". I challenged the staff on inspection and they told me there are three main English dictionaries: Oxford, Collins, and Manchester Airport. So even though literally nothing is actually liquid, they have this definition.
