Air Canada announced on September 3, 2026 that it will launch seasonal nonstop service between Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) and Shannon Airport (SNN), Ireland, beginning June 10, 2027.

The route will operate three times weekly using Airbus A321XLR aircraft and is scheduled to run through October 2, 2027. Air Canada describes the service as the only nonstop Canada–Shannon link, connecting greater Toronto with the west of Ireland and its diaspora communities.

Shannon Airport offers US Customs and Border Protection pre-clearance, allowing passengers to complete US immigration formalities before departure — a facility Air Canada's connecting traffic through Toronto can use on onward services to US cities.

The Shannon route is part of a broader three-destination European expansion from Toronto Pearson for summer 2027, alongside Oslo, Norway and Nice, France. All three new Toronto European services will use the A321XLR, which Air Canada is deploying to open routes where widebody economics would be challenging.

"Summer 2027 marks the most extensive intercontinental expansion in Air Canada's history," said Mark Galardo, Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer at Air Canada.

"The airline's new service to Oslo, Shannon and Nice, along with enhanced connectivity to other key international destinations, strengthen vital links to global markets," said Deborah Flint, President and CEO of Toronto Pearson.
