Malaysia Airlines launched nonstop service between Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL) and Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport (SZX) on 1 July 2026, with inaugural flight MH522 departing Kuala Lumpur at 21:05 local time. The first return service, MH523, departed Shenzhen at 02:45 local time on 2 July 2026, according to Breaking Travel News.
The route operates with Boeing 737-8 aircraft at a frequency of up to seven weekly flights, as confirmed on the Malaysia Airlines official promotions page. Shenzhen is Malaysia Airlines' eighth destination in mainland China, part of a simultaneous two-city China expansion alongside Changsha, which launched on 8 July 2026.
The expansion targets growing business and leisure demand between the two countries. China is Malaysia Airlines' second-largest international market by number of destinations served, and bilateral travel has been boosted by visa-free arrangements between Malaysia and China, according to Economy Class & Beyond. The launch also supports Malaysia's Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign.
An introductory promotional return fare from London Heathrow to Shenzhen via Kuala Lumpur was offered from GBP 1,009 per person in Economy Class, per Breaking Travel News.
