Lufthansa will launch year-round nonstop service between Munich Airport (MUC) and Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX) on August 3, 2027, operating on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays with an Airbus A350-900 ABC15 / Phoenix Business Journal.
The A350-900 on the route will carry 48 business class passengers, 21 in premium economy and 224 in economy, totaling 293 seats. The aircraft will not feature Lufthansa's newest Allegris interior, which is currently fitted to its 787-9 fleet One Mile at a Time. The route covers approximately 5,823 miles in each direction One Mile at a Time.
The Munich–Phoenix launch marks the first time any Lufthansa Group carrier has flown to Arizona. It also restores nonstop Germany–Phoenix service: Condor ended its Frankfurt–Phoenix flights in 2024. With the addition, Phoenix will have transatlantic service from carriers representing all three major transatlantic joint ventures One Mile at a Time.
Lufthansa announced the route on October 20, 2026, one day after confirming a new Frankfurt–Columbus, Ohio, service — making it two new U.S. cities revealed in consecutive days as part of the group's most comprehensive expansion since 2020. Phoenix becomes the 26th U.S. destination across the Lufthansa Group Lufthansa Group Newsroom.
