Iberia launched nonstop service between Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport (MAD) and Monterrey Mariano Escobedo International Airport (MTY) on June 2, 2026, adding Mexico's industrial capital to its network as its second Mexican destination alongside Mexico City. The airline confirmed the launch on its official corporate news page.
Flights operate three times per week on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays using Airbus A330-200 aircraft. Outbound flight IB305 departs Madrid at 13:10, arriving at 17:05 local time; return flight IB306 departs Monterrey at 18:35 and arrives in Madrid at 13:05 the next day. Westbound block time is approximately 11 hours 55 minutes over the 4,693-nautical-mile (8,694-km) sector.
Aviation Week reports the route contributes an additional 40,000 seasonal seats and brings Iberia's total Mexico–Europe capacity above 800,000 seats in 2026 — a record for the carrier — alongside its 3x daily Madrid–Mexico City A350 service. The timing aligns with the 2026 FIFA World Cup, hosted partly in Mexico, which was cited by Iberia as a demand driver. Simple Flying notes that approximately 260,000 round-trip passengers flew between Madrid and Monterrey in 2025, with about 45% travelling on origin-and-destination itineraries; connecting markets via Madrid from London, Paris, Rome, Frankfurt, and Amsterdam account for the balance. Iberia joins Aeromexico as the only two carriers currently serving the route nonstop.
