China Southern Airlines will restore daily nonstop service between Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport (CAN) and New Delhi Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) from September 21, 2026, reviving a route the carrier suspended in February 2020. Operated as flights CZ359 and CZ360, the service links one of China's largest commercial and manufacturing centers with India's capital.
The resumption is part of the gradual reopening of direct air links between China and India following a diplomatic agreement reached in August 2025 between the two countries' foreign ministers, as reported by Sputnik India. OAG data cited by Aviation Week shows airlines scheduled to offer approximately 60,000 seats between China and India in September 2026, up 18.8% from August. China Southern's partial-month operation at launch represents approximately 3.5% of total China-India capacity, with IndiGo leading at 37.3%, China Eastern at 27.9%, Air India at 18.2%, and Air China at 13.1%.
The Guangzhou–New Delhi route taps strong commercial, trade, student, and tourism demand between India and southern China. Guangzhou serves as a major manufacturing, trade, and logistics hub in the Pearl River Delta and is a key destination for Indian business travelers.
