TAAG Expands Long-Haul Network with Direct Luanda-Guangzhou Flights
TAAG Angola Airlines confirmed on 4 June 2026 the launch of weekly nonstop flights between Luanda and Guangzhou starting 23 June, opening the only direct air link between Angola and mainland China aboard a Boeing 787-9.
TAAG Angola Airlines (DT) confirmed on 4 June 2026 the launch of weekly nonstop service between Luanda's Dr. António Agostinho Neto International Airport (NBJ) and Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport (CAN), with operations commencing 23 June 2026. The carrier will operate once a week on Tuesdays: flight DT692 departs Luanda at 10:50 and arrives in Guangzhou at 07:50 the following day, while the return DT693 departs Guangzhou at 00:15 on Fridays and arrives in Luanda at 07:15. The Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner on the route is configured with 367 seats—343 economy and 24 business class—with an approximate flight time of 13–14 hours, per Ecofin Agency.
TAAG says the service is designed to support demand for travel, trade, and cargo between Angola and China—Africa's largest trading partner—and positions Luanda as a regional hub. The route represents TAAG's re-entry into the China market after multiple schedule filing withdrawals tracked by AeroRoutes dating back to late 2025 and early 2026. With bookings now open per the AeroRoutes tag page, the June 23 start date appears firm. According to Aviation Week, the airline cited the service as supporting its objective of developing Luanda as a regional hub with stronger intercontinental connectivity to Asia.
