Avianca launched daily nonstop service between Bogotá El Dorado International Airport (BOG) and Maracaibo La Chinita International Airport (MAR) on August 28, 2026, operated using Airbus A320 aircraft configured with 180 seats. The route operates as flight AV94 (Bogotá departure 15:05, arriving Maracaibo 17:40) and AV95 (Maracaibo departure 19:00, arriving Bogotá 19:25), according to FTN News.
The new Maracaibo service was followed on September 1 by Avianca's resumption of daily Bogotá–Caracas flights, restoring a route disrupted by the June 2026 earthquakes in Venezuela. Combined with the airline's existing daily flights to Valencia, Avianca now connects Bogotá to three Venezuelan cities, offering more than 7,500 weekly seats across the Colombia–Venezuela market. David Alemán, Avianca's Sales Director for South America, said the expansion was "a clear testament to Avianca's commitment to bringing people together, supporting business development, and opening up new opportunities across the region," as cited by Aviacion al Dia.
Passengers from Maracaibo gain access to Avianca's wider Bogotá hub connecting to more than 80 destinations across the Americas and Europe. Maracaibo, Venezuela's second-largest city and its main oil industry hub, joins Caracas and Valencia as Bogotá-connected Venezuelan cities.
