Official airport taxis are available 24/7 at a designated stand outside the arrivals terminal. Fares to major destinations like Kampala are generally fixed, but it's wise to confirm the price before starting your trip. Ride-hailing services such as Uber and Bolt also operate from the airport and are often a more affordable option. Additionally, many hotels and tour companies offer pre-booked private shuttle services.
Several international and local car rental agencies have counters within the arrivals hall, including well-known brands like Avis and Europcar. Both self-drive and chauffeur-driven vehicles are available. It is highly recommended to book in advance, especially during peak travel seasons. An International Driving Permit is typically required for self-drive rentals.
Direct public transit from the terminal is limited. The most common and cheapest option is the 'matatu' (minibus taxi). These do not enter the airport grounds but can be accessed on the main Entebbe-Kampala road, a short walk from the airport gate. Matatus are often crowded and do not run on a fixed schedule. For short distances around Entebbe, 'boda bodas' (motorcycle taxis) are widely available just outside the airport's main entrance.
Can Uganda for Gods sake have a good web site to find information about its airport flight schedules? Its very shaming that you can never and we have a full department of IT in our Universities who can do a better Job. Please employ some of these young men to do work for you Mother Uganda I mean this NRM government.
This airport was made famous by Operation Entebbe in 1976, with the rescue of a hijacked Air France airliner:
