Official airport taxis are available 24/7 outside the arrivals terminals. For metered or fixed-price fares, popular ride-hailing services like Uber, Bolt, and Little Cab operate from a designated passenger pick-up zone. It is advisable to use only authorized taxis or pre-booked app services.
Several international car rental companies, including Avis, Hertz, Sixt, and Europcar, have desks located in the arrivals halls. Local rental agencies are also available. It is recommended to book in advance, especially during peak seasons. A valid driver's license and often an International Driving Permit are required.
The most budget-friendly option is the public bus, Route 34, which runs from the airport to the Nairobi city center. For a faster journey, the Nairobi Commuter Rail service connects from the Embakasi Village station (a short taxi ride from the airport) to the central station. Private airport shuttle services also offer shared rides to various destinations and hotels.
