Taxis are readily available outside the arrivals hall. Fares are not metered, so it is crucial to negotiate and agree on a price before starting your trip. For a fixed price, you can also pre-book a private transfer through your hotel or an online service. Ride-hailing apps like Uber and Careem have a presence in Luxor, but their availability at the airport can be less consistent than traditional taxis.
Several international and local car rental agencies, including Sixt, Avis, and Europcar, have desks within the airport terminal. It is advisable to book your vehicle in advance, particularly during peak tourist seasons. An International Driving Permit (IDP) is generally required in addition to your valid home country driver's license.
There is no direct public bus or train service connecting to the Luxor International Airport terminal. The primary and most convenient transportation methods for travelers are taxis or pre-arranged private transfers. While local minibuses (microbuses) operate on the main roads outside the airport, they are not recommended for tourists, especially those with luggage, due to a lack of fixed schedules and routes.

Unfortunately, one of our cases had been opened en route to the aircraft after check in. This was noticed on arrival at Gatwick. On unpacking our cases, we discovered that souvenire maps and Valley of the Kings Booklet and Valley of the Queens booklet and dynesty information and map of the Nile had been removed from our case. No other item in the case was taken. As these were of great sentimental value and reminder of our trips, we were very disappointed that these items were taken from our case as they had been intended for our children.
