Neos (ICAO: NOS) Airline: Comprehensive Overview
Neos S.p.A. is a private Italian airline established on June 22, 2001, as a joint venture between the Italian Alpitour S.p.A. and the German TUI Group. The airline officially commenced revenue flights on March 8, 2002, with its inaugural flight from Milan Malpensa to Senegal. In January 2004, Alpitour S.p.A. acquired all of TUI Group's shares, making Neos a wholly-owned subsidiary of Italy's largest tour operator, Alpitour World.
Neos operates its main hub from Milan Malpensa Airport (MXP), with additional operational bases in Verona, Bologna, Rome–Fiumicino, and Bergamo. The airline boasts one of Europe's youngest fleets, exclusively operating Boeing aircraft. Its fleet includes Boeing 737 Next Generation, 737 MAX (specifically 737 MAX 8), and Boeing 787 Dreamliner (787-9) aircraft. As of August 2025, Neos operates a fleet of 18 aircraft, consisting of 12 Boeing 737 NG/MAX and 6 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners.
The airline's route network is extensive, connecting Italy to over 85 scheduled domestic, European, and intercontinental destinations. Neos flies to destinations across Europe, Africa, Asia, the Middle East, North America (including the Caribbean and Canada), and the Indian Ocean. Neos does not hold membership in any of the major global airline alliances like Star Alliance, SkyTeam, or Oneworld. For long-haul routes, particularly on its Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners, Neos offers a two-class cabin configuration: Premium Class and Economy Class. The Economy class on the Dreamliner also includes specialized seating categories such as Economy Extra Plus and Economy Extra for enhanced comfort or additional legroom. Services on board include in-flight entertainment, Wi-Fi connectivity on international flights, and a diverse catering menu featuring Italian and international cuisine.
