Taxis are generally available directly outside the terminal building, timed to meet scheduled flight arrivals. The main operator in the area is BSO Taxi. The journey to the Akureyri city center is short, typically taking 5-10 minutes.
Several car rental agencies have service desks located inside the airport terminal. Major providers include Hertz, Avis, Budget, and Europcar (operated by BĂlaleiga Akureyrar / Holdur). Pre-booking your vehicle is strongly recommended, particularly during peak travel seasons.
There is no direct, scheduled public bus service to or from the Akureyri Airport terminal. The local city bus network (Strætisvagnar Akureyrar - SVA) operates within the town itself, but its routes do not extend to the airport. To reach the city center via public transport, you would first need to take a taxi to a bus stop.
Reply to @philippe: You havn't seen Isafjordur wich is a scheduled airport and the runway heading is straight in to a mountain and a narrow approach to, more spectacular!

The approach is an offset localizer with curved approach lights, down into a fjord. Interesting missed approach and departure procedure too. The scenery is unbelievably beautiful. Efficient service from the airport staff, reasonable Avgas price for Europe.
