Manning Airport

As the area around Cedar Creek Reservoir grew in popularity, the value of the land for residential housing would have far exceeded its value as a small private airfield. The owner, R.L. Manning, likely sold the property for development.

The site of the former airport has been completely redeveloped. It is now a residential housing subdivision called 'Manning's Shoreline'. The former runway and airport facilities have been replaced by houses, yards, and streets. The name of the main road through the development, 'Manning Drive', serves as a historical marker for the former airport's location.

Manning Airport was a small, private general aviation airfield established between 1963 and 1968. It featured a single, unpaved turf runway (17/35) with a length of approximately 2,600 feet. The airport primarily served local pilots and property owners for recreational flying in the Cedar Creek Lake area. It was a typical private-use airstrip and did not handle commercial, cargo, or military operations. Its significance was purely local, providing air access for the community before the land became more valuable for housing.

There are zero plans or prospects for reopening. The land has been permanently and densely redeveloped for residential use, making it physically and legally impossible to re-establish an airport at this location.
