Official, pre-paid taxi services (Guarucoop) are available 24/7. Booths are located in the arrivals hall of all terminals where you can pay a fixed fare by cash or card. Ride-sharing apps like Uber and 99 also operate from the airport with designated pickup points.
Major car rental companies such as Localiza, Movida, Unidas, Hertz, and Avis have service desks in the arrivals areas. It is advisable to book your vehicle in advance, especially during peak travel seasons, for better rates and availability.
Several public transit options connect the airport to the city:
- CPTM Train: The Airport-Express (Line 13-Jade) provides a direct and fast connection to Luz Station in downtown São Paulo. A free shuttle bus connects the terminals to the train station.
- Airport Bus Service: Comfortable executive buses run routes to major points like Tietê Bus Terminal, Praça da República, and Congonhas Airport.
- Local Buses (EMTU): More economical bus lines connect the airport to nearby metro stations, such as Tatuapé (Metro Line 3 - Red).
This is the main airport for Sao Paulo. Unfortunately, it may get more congested if authorities decide to shut down its reliever, Congonhas (CGH), after the TAM Airbus crash there on July 17, since GRU will have to pick up the extra domestic flights.
