LATAM Airlines (ICAO: LAN) is a major South American airline group with a significant presence across the continent and beyond.
LATAM Airlines Group was officially formed in June 2012 through the merger of Chile's LAN Airlines, founded in 1929, and Brazil's TAM Linhas Aéreas, established in 1961. This strategic alliance created the largest airline conglomerate in Latin America. The airline's main operational bases and primary hubs include Arturo Merino Benítez International Airport in Santiago, Chile, Guarulhos International Airport in São Paulo, Brazil, and Jorge Chávez International Airport in Lima, Peru. Secondary hubs are located in Bogotá, Quito, Guayaquil, and Asunción.
LATAM operates a diverse and extensive fleet comprising approximately 360 aircraft. This includes narrow-body Airbus planes like the A319, A320, A321, and A320neo for shorter to medium-haul routes, and wide-body Boeing aircraft such as the 767, 777, 787-8, and 787-9 Dreamliners for long-haul international flights. The group also maintains a dedicated fleet of Boeing cargo aircraft. Its extensive route network covers over 160 destinations across 28 countries, offering services throughout Latin America, North America, the Caribbean, Oceania, Asia, and Europe.
While LATAM was a member of the Oneworld airline alliance until 2020, it now maintains a strategic commercial alliance with Delta Air Lines. The airline offers various cabin classes to cater to different traveler needs: Premium Business features lie-flat seats or suites on wide-body aircraft, providing enhanced privacy and comfort, along with lounge access and priority airport services. Premium Economy offers ergonomic seating in the front rows of single-aisle aircraft, with lounge access for international flights. Standard Economy class is available across its fleet.
