- Efficient Security and Customs: Travelers often report swift TSA experiences, especially with Pre-Check, and customs clearance is noted as better than some other major US airports like LAX. Immigration processing averages around 3 minutes.
- Inter-island Travel Efficiency: For inter-island flights, the process is generally described as working "pretty well," with prompt and efficient boarding.
- Helpful Customer Service: Despite potential overwhelm, customer service for changes is often found to be very helpful.
- Outdated and Dated Facilities: Many reviews describe the airport as "outdated," "old fashioned," and in need of "upgrades and remodeling". Terminal finishes are considered dated, and the overall environment could benefit from modernization.
- Inefficient Transfers and Long Walks: Travelers report long walking distances, and the transfer process, including bus transfers to other terminals for luggage, lacks efficiency.
- Limited Amenities and Crowding: There's a noticeable lack of duty-free stores at arrivals, and food options are often far from departure gates, requiring significant walking. The airport can also be very crowded, and there are limited family facilities.
- Luggage Delays: While arrivals are generally a breeze, it can sometimes take longer for luggage to arrive.
