First priority should be to complete the Airport. It has been over 25 years since this new airport was announced. What a shame it is to our government!!! Visit any country in the world and look at their Capital's airport and then think about ours!!!! I don't care what you call it, as long as it is a modern presentable facility comparable to others in the world, we can name it any thing. Let us just complete it P L E A S E.

My suggestions
Big cities like Karachi Lahore etc Pakistan government make four big airports on four corner of each city
Pakistan have five rivers government of Pakistan must make five public bridges for picnic purpose for peoples and earn tax and reduce tax pressure on Pakistan peoples
Make minimum five Pakistan embassy communication offices in each country in the world that give new jobs to Pakistani peoples and make easy life of all overseas Pakistanis.

How can someone purchase/book or lease shop inside airport facilities??
Lets name it 'Shaheed Muhajireen International Airport' in the memory of those refugees who lost their lives on their way to Pakistan in 1947. They left their neighbourhoods, their properties, their businesses all in support of an idea: PAKISTAN.
And I am not a muhajir; my family was always in these parts. But who is more Pakistani than those who sacrificed and jeopardised everything that could be of value (relatives, loved ones and wealth) in order to be Pakistanis.

I may be the only one why is it being named Ghandar Airport after a Budhist Kingdom, does not even sound like the airport is in Pakistan. Fatima Jinnah would have been more appropriate.

I am also intersted to know what is progress of this airport. SOmeone PLS do reply and say how far the construction has come to. Also what problems are happening. I purchsed land in Fatima Town near the airport hoping to sell as soon. I am [email protected] if anyone is interested. Thanks Tahir.
I have heard the airport is 80% complete and is on course for compleation in the set time scale

It is an excellent location, just 4 km from Islamabad Interchange of Lahore-Islamabad Motorway M-2, some 20 km from Zero Point Islamabad and Saddar Rawalpindi, that means only 20–25 minutes driving time of through network of motorways and highways. Being right on Motorway it is hardly at three hours drive from Lahore, Peshawar and Faisalabad, can be used in emergency / inclement weather

The Airport is being construed by LTH JV. A joint venture of Lagan Construction of Ireland, Technical Associates and Habib Construction of Pakistan. updated progress of Airside and Landside works is available on www.hcs.com.pk
