Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY) generally garners a mixed to positive traveler sentiment, often praised for its modern and clean new terminal. While many appreciate the aesthetic and range of amenities, some experiences are marred by frustrations with security wait times and transportation access. Overall, the airport is rated as a 3-Star Regional Airport by Skytrax and holds an average rating of 7.8/10 from traveler reviews.
Overall, Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport offers a modern and culturally vibrant experience once inside the terminal, particularly with its diverse dining and shopping. However, travelers should plan for potentially long security lines and be aware of ongoing road improvements that can impact transportation to and from the airport.

Taxis are readily available on the first level of the terminal, outside of Baggage Claim Door 7. A dispatcher is on duty to assist passengers. A flat fare of $36.00 is charged from the airport to the Central Business District (CBD) or French Quarter for up to two passengers. For three or more passengers, the fare is $15.00 per person.
The Consolidated Rental Car Center is a separate facility located a short distance from the terminal. All rental car companies, including major brands like Avis, Hertz, and Enterprise, operate from this center. Free shuttle buses continuously transport passengers between the terminal's first level (outside Baggage Claim Doors 6-11) and the rental facility.
Public bus service is an affordable option. The Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) operates the Airport Express (202) bus, providing direct service to downtown New Orleans. Jefferson Transit (JeT) also runs the E-2 bus to downtown. The bus stop for both services is located on the third level (Departures) on the outer curb.
