Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) serves as the primary commercial gateway to Las Vegas and the surrounding Southern Nevada region. As the key entry point for one of the world's premier tourism, entertainment, and convention destinations, it accommodates a substantial volume of both leisure and business travelers, playing a vital role in the local economy.

The airport's history dates back to 1942 when it opened as Alamo Field. It was later purchased by Clark County and renamed McCarran Field in 1948. In a significant change reflecting modern history, the airport was officially renamed in 2021 to honor Harry Reid, a long-serving U.S. Senator from Nevada. A notable feature is its proximity to the city's core attractions; located in Paradise, Nevada, its runways are just two miles from the southern end of the Las Vegas Strip. Travelers can easily access the airport via the I-215 beltway and major thoroughfares like Tropicana Avenue and Russell Road.

As one of the busiest airports in the United States, LAS handles tens of millions of passengers annually. It provides extensive domestic service and offers non-stop flights to international destinations in North America, Europe, and Asia. The airport is a major operating base for several low-cost carriers, including Southwest Airlines, Spirit Airlines, and Frontier Airlines, and is the home base for Allegiant Air, alongside serving all major legacy U.S. airlines.

The airport's facilities are spread across two separate terminal buildings: Terminal 1 and Terminal 3. An automated tram system connects both terminals to the satellite D Gates concourse. Inside, passengers find a wide range of amenities, including numerous restaurants, retail shops, and airline lounges. Reflecting the city's character, over 1,400 slot machines are available for play throughout the airport's concourses and gate areas.

For a smooth journey, travelers are advised to arrive at least two hours before domestic flights and three hours for international departures. Ground transportation options are plentiful, with designated areas for taxis, rideshare services, and airport shuttles located outside the baggage claim levels of both terminals. Passengers should confirm their airline's designated terminal (T1 or T3) before arriving, as the terminals are not connected post-security and require a shuttle bus for transfers between them.
