Official airport taxis (yellow and black) are readily available 24/7 outside the arrivals hall. Fares to central Dakar are generally fixed, but it is wise to confirm the price with the driver before departure. Ride-hailing apps like Yango and Heetch are also popular and operate from the airport.
Several car rental companies, including international brands like Avis, Hertz, and Sixt, have desks located in the arrivals terminal. It is recommended to book a vehicle in advance online for better rates and availability. An international driving permit is often recommended in addition to your valid driver's license.
The airport is served by the modern TER (Train Express Regional), which is the fastest and most reliable option to reach downtown Dakar, taking approximately 45 minutes. Additionally, public buses operated by Dakar Dem Dikk (DDD), including the AIBD Connect express service, offer a more economical way to travel to Dakar and other nearby towns.
This airport opened in December 2017, and scheduled airline service moved here from LĂ©opold SĂ©dar Senghor International Airport inside the city.
