The airfield has no real-world historical significance. The name 'Wallis' is almost certainly a tribute to Wing Commander Ken Wallis (1916-2013), a celebrated British aviator and inventor famous for creating and flying autogyros, including 'Little Nellie' which appeared in the 1967 James Bond film 'You Only Live Twice'. However, his actual home and private airfield were located in Reymerston, Norfolk, not at this location in Cambridgeshire.

There are no prospects for reopening as the airfield never existed in the first place. There are no known plans to develop a real-world airport at this location.
