Circa 2018-2019. There is no exact official public closure date, as the heliport fell into disuse gradually. Operations effectively ceased following the death of its primary user in early 2019.
The closure was due to a lack of operational need following changes in company ownership and the death of the primary user. The heliport was a private facility for the company Groep JAM, and its main proponent and user was the founder, Joris van der Oord. After the company was sold and Mr. van der Oord passed away in March 2019, the business case for maintaining a private heliport was eliminated.
The site of the former heliport has been fully repurposed. It is now used as a parking and maneuvering area for trucks and trailers, integrated into the logistics yard of the company 'Bolt', which now operates from the adjacent industrial buildings. Satellite imagery shows the circular helipad and a very faded 'H' marking are still visible on the pavement, but the area is consistently occupied by commercial vehicles.
Webbekom Heliport was a private corporate heliport, not a public or military facility. It was owned and operated by Groep JAM, a major automotive and logistics company headquartered at the location. The heliport's primary function was to provide rapid transportation for the company's executives, particularly its founder, enabling them to efficiently travel between business sites, avoid traffic, and meet with clients. The ICAO identifier BE-0059 is a national code assigned by Belgian authorities to a private Visual Flight Rules (VFR) heliport.
There are no known plans or prospects for reopening the heliport. The original operational justification is gone, the land has been repurposed for ground logistics, and the current owner has not expressed any interest in re-establishing aviation activities at the site.
