AJet, the Turkish Airlines low-cost subsidiary, has launched a new weekly nonstop route between Cologne/Bonn Airport (CGN) in Germany and Sivas Airport (VAS) in central Turkey, creating the only direct air link between Germany and the city of Sivas, according to a Cologne/Bonn Airport press release published in July 2026.
The service operates every Wednesday with a flight time of approximately four hours. Beyond being the sole Germany–Sivas connection, the route also represents Sivas Airport's only regular international flight — the airport's remaining traffic is otherwise served via domestic routes to Istanbul's main hubs, according to Aviation.Direct.
"The new direct route strengthens connections to an important region of Central Anatolia and offers a convenient and direct travel option, especially for people who want to visit family and friends," said Thilo Schmid, Chairman of the Executive Board of Flughafen Köln/Bonn GmbH, per the airport press release. The route targets the sizeable Turkish-origin community in western Germany seeking convenient nonstop access to a city that has historically required a connection through Istanbul or Ankara.
Sivas is one of Anatolia's oldest continuously inhabited cities with a recorded history spanning more than 4,000 years and a population of over 630,000. The city is known for its remarkable 13th-century Seljuk architecture, including the Divriği Great Mosque and Hospital, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
AJet was relaunched in 2024 with a digital-first, low-cost model under the Turkish Airlines umbrella and now serves more than 100 destinations across 35 countries, per Aviation24.be.
