🇧🇷 Major Brigadeiro Trompowsky Airport

Major Brigadeiro Trompowsky Airport (IATA: VAG, ICAO: SBVG) is a public airport serving Varginha, Brazil, named after Armando Figueira Trompowsky de Almeida, a former Minister of the Brazilian Air Force. It is located approximately 8 km (5 mi) from downtown Varginha.

The airport has a single asphalt runway, 04/22, measuring 1,650 meters (5,413 feet) in length and 30 meters (98 feet) wide. It supports both day VFR (Visual Flight Rules) and day/night IFR (Instrument Flight Rules) operations. The airport's elevation is 922 meters (3,025 feet) above sea level.

Currently, Azul Conecta operates regular commercial flights to Belo Horizonte–Confins from Varginha Airport. The airport has experienced increased activity, particularly in business tourism, driven by Varginha's role in coffee production and exports. In the first half of 2025, landings increased by 13% and takeoffs by 5% compared to the previous year.

In December 2025, the Ministry of Ports and Airports signed a commitment to install a PAPI (Precision Approach Path Indicator) system at the airport, enhancing safety for aircraft approaches and landings on runways 22/04.
