Notable Features and History: The airport's origins trace back to the mid-1960s as part of a large private resort development designed to be an exclusive retreat for the affluent. After a period of decline in the mid-1970s, the airstrip saw resurfacing efforts in the 1980s and early 2000s. A significant upgrade occurred in December 2022 when the Bahamian government officially opened a new international airport. This modern facility features a 9,500 square-foot terminal and a 4,800-foot asphalt runway (13/31), with high-intensity edge lights for emergency use.
