Hengyang Nanyue Airport (HNY/ZGHY) serves as the primary air gateway for the city of Hengyang in China's Hunan province. It plays a crucial role in connecting the region to the national air network and facilitates tourism to the nearby Mount Heng, one of China's Five Great Mountains. The airport is a modern facility that commenced operations on December 23, 2014, replacing the city's former military-civilian airport, Hengyang Bajialing. This relocation and upgrade were significant for improving the region's transportation infrastructure and accessibility for both business and leisure travelers.

The airport is situated in Yunji Town, Hengnan County, approximately 40 kilometers southwest of Hengyang's city center. Travelers can typically reach the airport from downtown in about 45 to 60 minutes by car. The most common modes of ground transportation are taxis and a dedicated airport shuttle bus service. The shuttle bus route connects the airport with key locations in the city, including the Hengyang Central Bus Station, offering an economical and reliable option for passengers. Taxis are readily available outside the terminal, providing a more direct transfer.

Hengyang Nanyue Airport operates exclusively as a domestic hub, with no regularly scheduled international flights. It is served by several major Chinese carriers, including Air China, China Southern Airlines, and Shanghai Airlines, among others. These airlines provide direct connections to major cities across China such as Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, Kunming, and Haikou. The airport features a single, modern terminal building designed to handle domestic passenger flow efficiently. Inside, travelers will find essential amenities including check-in counters, security screening, a basic selection of food and beverage outlets, and a few retail shops selling local products and travel necessities. A VIP lounge is also available for eligible passengers.
