Parks Air Force Base serves Dublin, US.
Parks Air Force Base (US-2799) in Dublin, US, operated as a basic training center for airmen during the Korean War, from 1951 until its closure in 1959. The base also functioned as an overseas replacement depot and an air base defense training area, notably without a functional runway on site. Its closure as an Air Force base was influenced by the relocation of basic training and the Air Base Defense School to Lackland Air Force Base in 1956, partly due to Defense Department budget issues.
Following its closure as an Air Force base, the installation was transferred to the U.S. Army in July 1959. Since December 1980, the site has been known as Parks Reserve Forces Training Area (PRFTA) and currently operates as an active U.S. Army Reserve Forces Training Area. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is presently conducting environmental investigations on certain portions of the former base that were transferred to private and municipal owners before October 1986.
