Rolling Meadows Airport

While the faint outline of the former north-south grass runway is still visible as a mowed strip of land, it is no longer maintained or marked as an active runway. The buildings on the property, which may have included hangars, now serve as outbuildings for the private residence. The land has effectively reverted to a rural homestead and agricultural use.

Rolling Meadows Airport (also known by its former FAA identifier, SN66) was a private general aviation airfield. It first appeared on aeronautical charts around 1970. The airport featured a single north/south turf runway (18/36) with a length of approximately 2,600 feet. Its operations were typical for a small, rural airfield, serving as a base for local pilots with light single-engine aircraft for recreational flying and personal transport. The 1982 A/FD (Airport/Facility Directory) listed the manager as C.L. Smith. Its significance was primarily local, providing a convenient facility for the private aviation community in the Worden and greater Douglas County area for over two decades.

There are no known plans or prospects for reopening Rolling Meadows Airport. Given that it has been officially closed for three decades and the land is fully integrated into a private residence, the likelihood of it ever being re-certified and reopened as an airport is virtually non-existent. Any such effort would require the current landowner's initiative and a significant investment to meet modern FAA standards, for which there is no apparent demand.
