Official airport taxis are readily available 24/7 from a dispatch booth located in the Arrivals Hall. These taxis operate on a fixed-fare system, with rates to various destinations posted at the booth. Ride-sharing services like Uber and TTRideShare also operate in Trinidad, though airport pickup arrangements can vary.
Several car rental companies, including international brands like Avis, Budget, and Hertz, as well as local agencies, have counters within the Arrivals Hall. It is advisable to book your vehicle in advance, especially during peak travel seasons. A valid driver's license from your home country is required, and an International Driving Permit is recommended.
The Public Transport Service Corporation (PTSC) provides bus service from the airport to major hubs like Port of Spain's City Gate terminal. This is the most economical option, but services are less frequent than other transport modes, particularly on weekends and late at night. The bus stop is located a short walk from the terminal building.
Good to buy rum, chocolate and jerk seasoning. Honestly, their jerk seasoning is the most delicious I've encountered and when my packet runs out I will miss it dearly.
Immigration can be a bit abrupt in their manner but are not unreasonable if you have your documentation in order. Smallish airport so easy to navigate, and various car rental options available.
This airport's employees are so rude unless your a female. Be ready to have the baggage helpers check you out and assist (sometimes a good thing!) It is small and intimate with cramped Duty Free shops which are sometimes more expensive than normal stores...I don't get it. Easy lay out and usually quick to get through. Its so tiny!
