Caribbean Airlines, incorporated in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago on September 27, 2006, officially commenced operations on January 1, 2007. It succeeded BWIA West Indies Airways and currently serves as the state-owned airline and flag carrier for both Trinidad and Tobago and Jamaica. The airline aims to provide a genuine Caribbean experience on all its services, embodying the warmth and culture of the islands.
The airline's main operational base and headquarters are located at Piarco International Airport (POS) in Trinidad and Tobago. It also maintains an important operational base at Norman Manley International Airport (KIN) in Kingston, Jamaica, and a hub at Cheddi Jagan International Airport (GEO) in Georgetown, Guyana. Caribbean Airlines operates an extensive route network, with over 600 weekly flights connecting destinations across the Caribbean, North America, and South America. As of November 2025, it serves 2 domestic and 25 international destinations across 22 countries.
Caribbean Airlines operates a fleet primarily comprising Boeing 737-800 and ATR 72-600 aircraft. There are plans to modernize the fleet further by replacing the Boeing 737-800 models with newer Boeing 737 MAX 8 airplanes. The airline is not a member of any major global airline alliances such as Star Alliance, SkyTeam, or Oneworld. However, it does engage in codeshare agreements with other carriers, including British Airways and Virgin Atlantic, to expand its reach. Notable services include Caribbean Plus, an upgraded economy class offering extra legroom, and Caribbean Cafe, providing buy-on-board local snacks and drinks. Complimentary meals and snacks are also offered on flights. The airline also features a loyalty program called Caribbean Miles.
