Taxis are readily available outside the arrivals terminal. Fares are not metered but are regulated by the government for standard routes. It is highly recommended to confirm the fare with the driver before starting your journey. Authorized taxis are identifiable by their light blue license plates with a 'TX' prefix.
Several car rental agencies, including international and local companies, operate at or near the airport. Desks can be found in the arrivals area. It is advisable to book in advance, especially during peak season. A temporary local driving permit is required, which can be purchased from the rental agency upon presentation of your valid home driver's license. Driving in St. Lucia is on the left-hand side of the road.
Public transport consists of privately-owned minibuses. There is no direct bus stop at the terminal building; passengers must walk a short distance to the main Castries-Gros Islet Highway to catch a bus. This is the most economical option but can be inconvenient with luggage and may not run on a fixed schedule. It's a viable option for budget-conscious or adventurous travelers with light baggage.
FYI, you cannot park your plane here. If you need to drop passengers off, you will need to relocate down to Hewanorra to park. And it takes almost 2 hours to drive up to the north end of the island from Hewanorra. Get a taxi, do not attempt to drive yourself, unless you want to die young! And make sure you get a clearance before you start engines.
