Circa 2010. The airfield was noted as permanently closed in aviation databases and forums around the 2010-2011 period.
Economic reasons. The closure was a result of the private land on which the airfield was situated being sold. The operating club, Vetlanda Flygklubb (Vetlanda Flying Club), lost its lease and was forced to cease operations at the location.
The site has been fully converted back to agricultural land. Satellite imagery of the coordinates shows that the former runway area is now an open field used for farming. The distinct outline of the airstrip is no longer visible, and there are no signs of active aviation infrastructure. Any remaining buildings, such as the former hangar, have likely been repurposed for agricultural storage or have been removed.
Slageryd Airfield was a small, private grass airstrip primarily serving the local general aviation community. It was the home base for the Vetlanda Flygklubb. Its operations consisted of recreational flying, flight training for private pilots, and a base for small, single-engine aircraft (e.g., Cessna, Piper). The airfield's significance was purely local, acting as a hub for aviation enthusiasts in the Vetlanda area, with no history of commercial or military use.
None. There are no known plans or prospects for reopening the airfield. Given that the land was sold to a new private owner and has been integrated into agricultural operations, the possibility of it ever returning to aviation use is considered extremely unlikely.
