Taxi stands are located directly outside the arrivals hall of both the Domestic and International terminals. As the airport is very close to the city center, taxi rides are a quick and convenient option. A trip to major areas like Hakata Station or Tenjin typically takes 15-25 minutes. Fares are metered.
Multiple car rental companies (including Toyota, Nissan, Times, Orix) have counters in the arrivals area of both terminals. After completing paperwork at the counter, a shuttle bus will transport you to a nearby office to pick up your vehicle. Note: An International Driving Permit (IDP) is mandatory for most foreign drivers, along with your original license and passport.
Fukuoka Airport offers excellent public transit connections.
- Subway: The Fukuoka City Subway (Kuko Line) is the fastest way to the city center. The station is directly connected to the Domestic Terminal. It takes only 5 minutes to Hakata Station and 11 minutes to Tenjin Station.
- Buses: Local Nishitetsu buses run from both terminals to Hakata Station, Tenjin, and other city destinations. Highway buses also depart from the airport, connecting to other cities throughout Kyushu.
- Free Shuttle Bus: A complimentary shuttle bus runs frequently between the Domestic and International terminals, which is necessary for international arrivals who wish to use the subway.
