Operations at Kauehi Airport are exclusively domestic. The sole commercial airline serving the atoll is Air Tahiti, which provides intermittent scheduled flights connecting Kauehi with Faa'a International Airport (PPT) in Tahiti and other nearby atolls in the Tuamotus, such as Fakarava. The flight schedule is limited, often with only a few services per week, and passenger volume is very low, reflecting the atoll's intimate scale.

Facilities at the airport are minimal and functional, consistent with its role as a remote island airstrip. The terminal consists of a single, small, and often open-air building that provides basic shelter. It includes a check-in counter and a simple waiting area.
