Approximately 2009. The airfield was gradually phased out between 2008 and 2010 as the area was rezoned. The runway was reported as definitively removed by mid-2009 to make way for construction.
The primary reason for closure was commercial land development. The Vestby municipality rezoned the area, including the airfield, for a major expansion of the Vestby Næringspark (Vestby Business Park). The land's value for industrial and logistics purposes significantly outweighed its use as a recreational airfield, leading to its sale and redevelopment.
The site has been completely transformed and is now an integral part of the Vestby Næringspark Øst (Vestby Business Park East). The exact location of the former runway and airfield is now occupied by large-scale warehouses, distribution centers, and industrial facilities for major companies like ASKO and Prime Cargo. The only remaining trace of its past is a nearby road named 'Flyplassveien' (Airport Road).
Vestby Airfield, also known locally as Deli Skog, was a private airstrip that served as a significant hub for recreational aviation in the Follo region south of Oslo. It was the home base for the Follo Mikroflyklubb (Follo Microlight Club) and primarily handled microlight and ultralight aircraft operations. While not a public airport, its ICAO designator (NO-0028) marked it as an officially registered landing site. It played an important role for local pilots and aviation enthusiasts before the area's industrial boom.
There are zero prospects for reopening the airfield at its original location. The land has been permanently and irreversibly redeveloped with extensive, high-value industrial infrastructure. Any return to aviation use at this site is physically and economically impossible.
