Taxis are the most common form of transportation from the airport. They are readily available outside the arrivals terminal. Fares are not metered but are regulated by the government based on zones and destination. It is recommended to confirm the fare with the driver before starting your trip. Cash (both USD and Bahamian dollars) is the preferred method of payment.
Several car rental agencies operate at or near the airport, including local companies like A&P Auto Rentals and Rental Wheels, as well as affiliates of international brands. It is highly recommended to book your vehicle in advance, especially during peak season. Remember that driving in The Bahamas is on the left-hand side of the road.
There is no formal public bus system or scheduled shuttle service that directly serves Leonard M. Thompson International Airport. Transportation is primarily handled by taxis, rental cars, or pre-arranged private shuttles organized through hotels and resorts.
This airport gets a steady flow of traffic every day. It is the gateway to the Abacos Islands. I have only used the Cherokee FBO which is very nice.
