Eppley Airfield (OMA), located in Omaha, Nebraska, serves as the primary commercial airport for the state and a key transportation hub for a multi-state region that includes western Iowa, northwestern Missouri, and southeastern South Dakota. As the largest airport in Nebraska, it facilitates travel for both business and leisure, connecting the region to destinations across the United States.

Originally established in 1925 as the Omaha Municipal Airport, the facility has a rich history tied to the growth of the city. In 1960, it was renamed in honor of hotel magnate and philanthropist Eugene C. Eppley, whose Eppley Foundation provided $1 million for the construction of a new terminal building. The airport is situated conveniently just three miles northeast of downtown Omaha, adjacent to the Missouri River. This proximity allows for short travel times to the city's central business district and Old Market area. Access is straightforward via Abbott Drive, which connects to major thoroughfares and nearby interstates.

Eppley Airfield handles several million passengers annually, with operations dominated by domestic flights. Major carriers including Southwest Airlines, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, and United Airlines provide service to their respective hubs and other major cities. The airport also supports significant cargo and general aviation operations. While it does not currently host scheduled international passenger service, it is equipped to handle international charter and private flights.

The airport operates from a single, consolidated terminal building, which simplifies navigation for travelers. This terminal is divided into two concourses, Concourse A and Concourse B, which house all airline gates. Passengers have access to a range of amenities, including complimentary Wi-Fi, charging stations, and various retail and dining options featuring both national brands and local Omaha favorites. A USO lounge is also available for members of the military and their families. Travelers should be aware that the airport is undergoing a multi-year terminal modernization and expansion program, which may result in temporary changes to layouts and services.

For a smooth travel experience, passengers are advised to arrive approximately 90 minutes to two hours prior to their scheduled departure. Ground transportation options are located outside the baggage claim area and include rental car services, taxis, ride-sharing companies, and Route 16 of Omaha's Metro bus system. With all gates located within a single secure area, making flight connections is a direct process without the need to re-clear security.
