Chita Flying Club Airstrip

Economic reasons. The airport's operator, the Chita Flying Club Co., Ltd., filed for bankruptcy, making the continued operation of the private airfield financially impossible.

The site has been completely redeveloped and is now the location of the Agui Solar Power Plant (阿久比太陽光発電所), a large-scale solar energy farm. All aviation infrastructure, including the runway, taxiways, and hangars, was demolished around 2013 to make way for the solar panel installation, which became operational circa 2014.

The Chita Flying Club Airstrip was a private, non-public airfield (known in Japan as a 'jōgai richakuriku-jō') that opened in 1990. It served as a base for the Chita Flying Club, catering to general aviation enthusiasts in the Aichi Prefecture. Operations primarily consisted of recreational flying, flight training, and sightseeing in small, single-engine aircraft like Cessnas. It featured a single paved runway approximately 600 meters long and was a key local hub for private pilots.

None. There are no plans or prospects for reopening the airstrip. The land has been permanently and completely repurposed for industrial-scale renewable energy generation, making any return to aviation activities infeasible.
