Approximately 2010. While an exact date is not officially recorded, aviation community discussions and the removal of the airfield from official databases like the Czech Light Aircraft Association (LAA ČR) registry occurred around this time. Operations ceased in the 2009-2010 period.
The closure was primarily due to land use and administrative reasons. The lease agreement for the land on which the airfield operated was terminated or not renewed. The land was subsequently returned to its original agricultural purpose. This is a common reason for the closure of small, privately-operated airfields and was not the result of a major accident, military conversion, or broader economic collapse.
The site of the former airfield has reverted to agricultural use, primarily as a field for farming. Satellite imagery of the coordinates shows a faint outline of the former grass runway, but it is unmaintained, overgrown, and indistinguishable from the surrounding farmland at ground level. All associated aviation infrastructure, such as hangars, a clubhouse, or markings, has been removed. The land is now part of the rural landscape near the Baška reservoir.
Baška (CZ-0151) was a designated Ultralight Landing Place (ULP) serving the local general aviation community in the Frýdek-Místek District. It was never a commercial airport and did not handle scheduled passenger or cargo flights. Its significance was purely recreational and local. The airfield was the home base for the 'Aeroklub Baška' (Baška Aeroclub) and primarily handled ultralight aircraft, motor gliders, and other light sport aircraft. It served as a center for recreational flying, flight training for ultralight pilots, and a social hub for aviation enthusiasts in the region.
There are no known plans or prospects for reopening the Baška airfield. The land has been fully reintegrated into agricultural use, and the local aeroclub that operated it has since disbanded or relocated. Re-establishing an airfield at this location would require securing new land-use permits, negotiating new lease agreements, and significant investment to restore the runway and build new facilities, making it highly improbable.
