Alma Field

The airport was a private airstrip. While the exact reason is not publicly documented, the closure is consistent with common reasons for private strips, such as the owner ceasing aviation activities due to age or cost, selling the property, or prioritizing the land for agricultural use. There is no evidence of closure due to a specific accident or regulatory action.

The site of the former runway has been fully reclaimed and is now used as active agricultural land, indistinguishable from the surrounding farm fields. The farm buildings that were located at the south end of the strip still exist and are used for agricultural purposes.

Alma Field was a small, private grass airstrip. Its significance was purely local, serving the recreational flying needs of its owner. It was never a public or commercial airport and did not handle scheduled flights or significant air traffic. Operations would have been limited to light, single-engine aircraft (like a Cessna or Piper) capable of operating from a short, unpaved turf runway. The identifier 'CA-0999' is a non-official code used by third-party databases to track unregistered or closed airfields; it was not an official ICAO or Transport Canada identifier.

There are no known plans or prospects for reopening Alma Field. The land has been completely converted back to agriculture, and re-establishing an airstrip would require significant investment and the consent of the current landowner. It is considered permanently closed.
