Circa 2010-2012. Analysis of historical satellite imagery shows a distinct and maintained grass runway up to 2008. By 2012, the runway area was no longer clearly defined and appears to have been converted to agricultural use.
Cessation of private use and land conversion. As a small, privately-owned airstrip on agricultural land, the closure was most likely due to economic reasons or a change in ownership. The owner likely ceased aviation operations and reverted the land to its primary purpose of farming. There is no evidence of closure due to a specific accident or for military purposes.
The site has been fully converted back to agricultural land. The former turf runway is no longer visible and has been completely integrated into the surrounding farm fields for crop cultivation. All traces of the airport have been erased from the landscape.
Coulterville Field was a private, general aviation airstrip. Its significance was local, serving as a base for one or more private pilots for recreational flying. It consisted of a single turf runway (approximately 2,200 feet long) and likely minimal infrastructure. Operations would have been limited to light, single-engine aircraft and possibly ultralights. It was never a commercial or public-use airport and did not handle scheduled flights.
There are no known plans or prospects for reopening Coulterville Field. The land is privately owned and actively farmed. Re-establishing an airport would require significant investment to acquire the land and rebuild all infrastructure from scratch, and there is no apparent demand or initiative for such a project.
