The airstrip was officially de-listed from the Canada Flight Supplement (CFS) sometime between 2006 and 2012, indicating its closure within that timeframe. The exact date is unknown, which is common for private airstrips that cease operations and revert to other land uses.
The closure was due to the cessation of private use. Kohler Airstrip was a private 'farm strip' whose existence was tied to the owner's personal aviation activities. Such strips are typically closed when the owner stops flying, sells the property, or passes away. There is no evidence of closure due to a specific accident, economic failure, or military conversion.
The site has been fully reclaimed for agricultural purposes. High-resolution satellite imagery of the coordinates shows the former runway area is now a cultivated farm field, completely integrated with the surrounding farmland. There are no visible remnants of any aviation infrastructure like hangars, windsock bases, or runway markings. The land remains privately owned.
Kohler Airstrip held local significance as a private, unregistered aerodrome. It was not a public airport and did not handle commercial traffic. When active, it primarily served the recreational flying needs of its owner. Records from the 2006 Canada Flight Supplement indicate it had a single turf runway, approximately 2,600 feet long with a 14/32 orientation, suitable for light, single-engine aircraft.
There are no known plans or prospects for reopening the Kohler Airstrip. The land has been fundamentally repurposed, and re-establishing an aviation facility would require the initiative of the current landowner, significant investment, and re-approval from Transport Canada. The likelihood of this happening is considered to be zero.
Former relief field for the BCATP No.6 Service Flying Training School at Dunnville. Currently the location of the Toronto Motorsports Park featuring a dragstrip and road course.
