Late 2007. The airfield officially closed at the end of the 2007 flying season after the operating club's lease was terminated.
Economic reasons and land redevelopment. The owner of the land terminated the lease with the flying club in order to develop the site into a commercial and industrial business park, which was deemed more profitable.
The site has been completely redeveloped into the 'Gewerbepark Raffelding' (Raffelding Business Park). The former runway and aviation facilities have been replaced by commercial buildings, warehouses, and infrastructure. The only remaining reference to its past is a street within the business park named 'Am Flugplatz' ('At the Airfield').
Opened in 1970, Raffelding Airfield was a private general aviation airfield that served as the home base for the 'Union Sportfliegergruppe Linz' (USFL) flying club for 37 years. It featured a 600-meter grass runway (08/26) and was a significant local center for sport aviation, including private flying, flight training, and glider operations in the Upper Austria region near Linz.
There are zero prospects for reopening. The land has been permanently and irreversibly converted to commercial and industrial use, making a return to aviation activities impossible.
