🇦🇹 Wels Airfield

The Wels Airfield (ICAO: LOLW) is a public civil airfield located in Wels, Upper Austria,. It is not used for commercial scheduled services but supports business and general aviation, private and military training flights, and medical transportation.

• Runways: Wels Airfield has one asphalt runway (1,390 m / 4,560 ft) and two grass/dirt runways (930 m / 3,051 ft and 900 m / 2,952 ft, the latter for gliders).
• Historical Significance: It is considered the "cradle of Austrian motor gliders" and has been a testing ground for new aircraft designs, including Austria's first ultralight test in 1983, the world's first electric flight, and the first practical run of the Rotax 912 aircraft engine. It has been the largest public civil airfield in Europe under club ownership since 1972 and is the third oldest airfield in Austria.
