Transavia Holland Airlines (ICAO: TRA) is a Dutch low-cost carrier and a subsidiary of KLM, forming part of the larger Air France-KLM group. It primarily focuses on scheduled and charter services to leisure destinations across Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East.
Transavia was founded in 1965 as Transavia Holland, with its first commercial flight taking off in November 1966. Initially operating as a charter airline, it began its first scheduled service in 1986. Since 2003, Transavia has been a wholly owned subsidiary of KLM, integrating into the Air France-KLM group in 2004.
The airline's main operational base is Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS). It also maintains other significant bases within the Netherlands at Rotterdam The Hague Airport and Eindhoven Airport. Additionally, Transavia operates from several bases in France, including Paris-Orly Airport (ORY), through its subsidiary Transavia France, and from Brussels Airport in Belgium. The airline's route network encompasses over 100 destinations across more than 25 countries, concentrating on short- and medium-haul flights.
Transavia primarily operates a fleet of Boeing 737-800 aircraft. The airline is currently undergoing a fleet renewal program, transitioning to Airbus A320neo family aircraft, specifically introducing the Airbus A321neo to replace its Boeing 737 fleet. As a low-cost carrier, Transavia operates with a single Economy Class cabin. While it is not a member of major airline alliances like Star Alliance, SkyTeam, or Oneworld, it is part of the Flying Blue frequent flyer program, shared with Air France and KLM. The airline offers various fare types (Basic, Plus, Max) that allow for different baggage allowances and seat selection options, and provides a "Selection on Board" service for purchasing food and drinks.
