Royal Jordanian Airlines (ICAO: RJA) is the flag carrier of Jordan, established by royal decree of the late King Hussein on December 9, 1963, and commencing operations on December 15, 1963. Initially named Alia, the airline was rebranded as Royal Jordanian Airlines in December 1986. With its head office in Amman, the airline serves as a crucial link for Jordan, embodying the country's hospitality and culture.
The airline's main operational base and primary hub is Queen Alia International Airport (AMM) in Amman. It also utilizes King Hussein International Airport (AQJ) in Aqaba, Jordan, as a secondary hub, primarily serving as a gateway to the popular tourist destination of Aqaba. Royal Jordanian operates a scheduled international network spanning over four continents, connecting the Middle East, Europe, Asia, North Africa, and North America. It serves more than 45 destinations in over 30 countries, aiming to position itself as a national carrier for the Levant region, facilitating trade and tourism.
Royal Jordanian is a proud member of the Oneworld airline alliance since 2007, which expands its global reach and offers passengers extensive connectivity and loyalty program benefits with partner airlines. The airline's fleet, as of November 2023, includes Airbus A319s, A320s, A321s, Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners, Embraer E175s, and E195s.
