Norwegian Air Shuttle (ICAO: NOZ)
Norwegian Air Shuttle, commonly known as Norwegian, is a prominent Norwegian low-cost airline and Scandinavia's second-largest carrier. Founded on January 22, 1993, it initially operated as a regional airline, taking over services for Braathens in Western Norway with Fokker 50 aircraft. In 2002, it rebranded as "Norwegian" and transitioned into a low-cost domestic carrier, later expanding its focus to include Central European routes.
The airline's primary operational base is Oslo Airport (OSL) in Norway, with other significant operating bases and focus cities across Europe including Copenhagen, Helsinki, Stockholm-Arlanda, Alicante, Málaga, Bergen, Las Palmas, Palma de Mallorca, Riga, and Trondheim. Norwegian's fleet primarily consists of fuel-efficient Boeing 737-800 and Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft. Its route network is extensive, covering high-frequency domestic flights within Scandinavia and Finland, as well as numerous business and leisure destinations across Europe and North Africa. The airline does not belong to any major global airline alliances like Star Alliance, SkyTeam, or Oneworld, but it has established codeshare agreements with several other carriers. Norwegian offers a no-frills service model, with onboard Wi-Fi available on most flights and the option to purchase snacks and pre-ordered meals. Cabin classes typically include Economy and a more upscale Premium cabin with extra legroom and included meals on some routes.
